Currently, organisations are dealing with an increasingly volatile market and more and more variables that affect both the decision-making processes and the need to share information with all agents involved. In addition to the data produced internally, organisations must deal with external data (from the internet, commercial transactions, and sensors, among many others) that play a fundamental role in framing their strategic decisions. Therefore, it is necessary to identify and implement information structuring and organisation strategies that allow enriching the decision-making process. Thus, the methodical and systematic application of processes and technologies for the processing and integration of tactical and operational information is crucial to ensure the sharing of useful information to support decision-making.

In a world that is more and more driven by information, it is intended to graduate professionals that can exercise functions that allow for the organizational data to be intelligible to decision-makers regardless of the type of organization. These functions are intended to be achieved through the creation of systems that allow for the integration, structuration, visualisation, and analysis of organisational information. These professionals may also contribute to the creation of resources that may increase the quality of the information consumed internally and the one collected or made available to the exterior.
