The Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão (ESTG), integrated in the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP), was created by Decree-Law No. 264/99, of 14 July, having started its activity in the academic year 1999/2000.
ESTG
- Is guided by public service imperatives, with particular relevance to the region where it is located: Vale do Sousa e Baixo Tâmega;
- Devotes special attention to the particularities of the region where it is inserted, contributing to their social, economic and cultural development, and responding to the needs detected in the same region;
- Aims to be an exemplarity and a demonstration of institutional quality.
As an institution of higher education, has by purpose:
- The human, cultural, scientific, technical, pedagogical and professional training of higher education in the areas of education administered by it;
- The development of projects with a scientific nature;
- The provision of services to the community in a reciprocal valuation perspective;
- Participation in national and international cooperation projects, focusing, in rearguards to the latter, on the Portuguese-speaking African countries.
