This course aims at preparing students for the intellectual and practical activities typically carried out by a designer. Students will acquire sound knowledge in new technologies, in how to think visually and in how to critically analyse their work and that of others. During the course, students will carry out high quality assignments under the guidance of visiting professors and during their placement periods in design companies.

Throughout the course, the students¿ presence at seminars and their academic assignments will give them ample opportunity to demonstrate their critical awareness and their self-analysis skills, as well as to build on a personal perspective that will surpass the technical requirements expected from a design professional.

The course programme aims at:

Providing the appropriate framework for the development of vocational skills and artistic sensitivity;

Training designers that are both versatile and responsible;

Creating original works, based on sound knowledge of the different communication media and technologies available;

Using a series of learning/teaching and assessment strategies adequate for supporting each student in his/her actions, and individual and collective thinking.

This undergraduate programme has two majors:

Graphic Design and Advertising

Industrial Design

Each one of the options has specific curricula, made up of two types of complementary subjects: core subjects and specialising subjects, both equally important for a designer, which will provide the student with transferable skills, along with several perspectives on a design career.

Students are expected to carry out a series of research projects, real-life design projects and cooperation projects with the surrounding community.
